Coming Up: The IE Foundation Prizes in the Humanities

As an IE student, you may have heard of the IE Foundation Prizes in the Humanities, it’s a great opportunity to showcase your creative efforts and a great achievement to show!

I spoke with Victoria Gimeno, the director of the IE Foundation Prizes in Humanities, to ask her more about what the competition consists of:

The IE Foundation Prizes in the Humanities celebrate that special something that makes the IE community different. We believe in the power of humanities to help shape not just the way we see the world, but the world itself. The humanities are the beating heart of IE.

We truly believe that the humanities are a tool to make us better people and professionals. That is why we want to invite you and encourage you to participate in the Prizes in the Humanities. Express yourselves, intensify your sensitivity, develop your creativity and let your imagination and your emotions fly.

Each year, a prize is awarded in the following categories, in English or Spanish: short story, poetry, video, photography and short essay. What are you waiting for? Get your creative juices flowing and submit your work!

The winners are announced in July, and every year IE produces a book from all the submissions it has received.

“My personal favourite submission is the winner of the 2020 photography category, titled “big family” as it evokes a feeling of togetherness and comfort to me. “

Victoria Gimeno

The deadline for submission is May 15th. In order to submit a piece you must be an IE student, alumnus, faculty or staff. The piece must be unedited and most importantly, yours. So if you have a keen eye for photography, a way with words or a passion for filmmaking I highly encourage you to apply! You can submit your work via the link and if you have any questions feel free to email: HumanitiesPrize@ie.edu.
